  TITLE     HAND PUPPET SHOW
DESCRIPTION     Paper bag hand puppets in performance
DETAILS     After we made our  hand puppets from paper bags (Click to review), we decided to put on a puppet show for the rest of the family. “We have to have some scenery,” my granddaughter insisted.

I hadn’t planned for this. What could I come up with on the spur of the moment? Then I remembered the somewhat weary piece of foam core in the garage. At 36 inches wide and 48 inches tall, it was perfect for hiding behind as we manipulated our puppets The action was to take place in a classroom. We got our paints and brushes and went to work. The foam core was stiff enough to prop against a chair, an important consideration. I drew the teacher, my granddaughter drew the student.

The play was created by my granddaughter while we rehearsed, sort of a Woody Allen event with lots of ad libbing by the actors. Our audience was enthralled. When I fell into bed later that night, I was overwhelmed with how creative children are. Give them something to start with and they run with it. I can hardly keep up.
